Illustration explaining how List Difference Checker works

How to use it

  1. Paste one list into List A and the other into List B, with one item per line.
  2. Choose whether to ignore leading or trailing spaces and letter case.
  3. Review items unique to each list and items shared by both.
  4. Click “Copy” to copy the comparison results.

Supported input and notes

Comparison is done by line, not character-by-character editing. Optional whitespace and case normalization can change which items count as matches.

When it is useful

Useful for comparing inventories, participant lists, IDs, or other line-based data.

Comparison Happens One Line at a Time

Each line is treated as one list item. This is useful for names, product codes, URLs, keywords, and other line-based lists.

Items on One Side Only

See which entries exist only in list A and which exist only in list B.

Items in Both Lists

Common entries that appear in both lists are shown separately.

Duplicates Count as One Item

Repeated entries inside the same list are merged before comparison. The tool compares whether an item exists, not how many times it appears.

Reduce Simple Formatting Differences

You can ignore spaces at the beginning and end of a line or compare letters without distinguishing uppercase and lowercase.

Spaces Inside an Item Remain

Ignoring outer spaces does not remove spaces in the middle of an item.

Different internal text means a different item: ABC 123 and ABC123 are treated as different entries.

FAQ

No. Duplicate entries are combined before comparison.

Are blank lines shown as differences?

No. Blank lines are excluded from the comparison.

Can it show character-by-character edits in a paragraph?
